The San Diego Padres rallied to beat the Cincinnati Reds 6-2 on the West Coast in a game heard late last night on WRBI. The Padres scored two runs in the 7th inning, and added three more in the 8th. The Reds have now dropped five straight. Andrew Abbott took the loss. Abbott pitched six innings, gave up four hits, three earned runs and two walks while striking out six. His record is now 4-4. Game two of the series is tonight. Chase Burns (7-1, 2.05 earned run average) goes for the Reds against Padres righthander Lucas Giolito (2-1, 4.86 ERA). Coverage begins at 9:10 on 103.9 FM.

Caitlin Clark’s 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining lifted the Indiana Fever over the Washington Mystics 78-76 in WNBA Commissioner’s Cup play last night in D.C. Clark led all scorers with 19 points. Aliyah Boston recorded a double double: 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Fever are back in action Thursday night at home against the Chicago Sky.

A Texas judge has granted former Indiana and UC quarterback Brendan Sorsby a temporary injunction that will allow him to play this season for Texas Tech. Sorsby has been embroiled in a legal battle with the NCAA, which ruled him ineligible to play after violating its gambling protocols. The NCAA plans to appeal the ruling. Sorsby has been treated for a gambling addiction. It’s been reported that he bet thousands of dollars on IU football and basketball games, and placed numerous bets on pro and college sports during his time at UC.
