Providence eliminated Batesville 9-4 in the Class 3A baseball regional at Floyd Central. The Bulldogs trailed 9-1 heading into the 7th inning before scoring 3 runs for the final margin. Coach Tyler Burcham’s team ends the season at 17-11…

It was Hauser over North Decatur 13-6 in 10 innings in the 1A baseball regional at Jennings County. The Chargers of coach Christian McKinney trailed 5-3 going into the 7th but came off the mat to tie the game and sent it to extra innings. But the Jets plated eight runs in the top of the 10th. North Decatur scored a run in the bottom of the frame to round out the scoring. The Chargers finish with a 15-9 mark.

The Reds were swept 5-3 by the Cardinals in St. Louis in the series finale heard yesterday on WRBI. Rhett Lowder came off the injured list and went 3 innings, allowing 1 hit, no runs and 5 walks with 4 strikeouts. Sam Moll took the loss in relief. Matt McLain hit two home runs. Tyler Stephenson went 3 for 4 with a homer and was a triple short of hitting for the cycle. The Reds look to snap their four-game losing streak when they open a three-game series tonight in San Diego against the Padres. Lefty Andrew Abbott (4-3, 4.06 earned run average) gets the start for Cincinnati. The Padres counter with righthander Walker Buehler (3-3, 4.53 ERA). Coverage begins at 9:10 on 103.9 FM.
