(Ripley County, IN) – The Ripley County Chamber of Commerce says a scam phone call was recently made to one of its member businesses from a blocked number, claiming to be from the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office fraud department.
The scammer asked for specific financial information, according to the chamber.
The scam was reported to the sheriff’s office.
“This is a reminder not to give your information to people you aren’t familiar with personally,” reads a statement from the chamber. “If you are unsure, contact the entity calling on a phone number you have directly.”
Also, if you receive such a call, hang up and contact local law enforcement.
