(Lawrenceburg, IN) – State regulators have given a Houston, Texas-based energy company permission to purchase a Southeastern Indiana natural gas plant.
Indiana Business Journal says the state’s Utility Regulatory Commission’s decision moves Talen Energy Corporation one step closer to owning the Lawrenceburg Power Plant.
That facility has the capacity to produce about 1,200 megawatts of power.
The deal is part of Talen Energy’s $3.45 billion acquisition of three gas-fired PJM power assets from Energy Capital Partners.
Besides the Lawrenceburg Power Plant, the company is also looking to acquire Waterford Energy Center and Darby Generating Station, both in Ohio.
The transaction is pending federal approval, and faces a challenge stemming from market concerns.
