EC Wins Track and Field Sectional

East Central claimed the IHSAA girls track and field sectional at Batesville High School that was spread out over several days because of weather.

The Trojans finished as a team with points, followed by the host Bulldogs with 133.

Richmond came in third with 58 points.

A total of 15 teams participated, including Franklin County and Oldenburg Academy.

The top three team and individual finishers in each event advance to the Regional round.

Sectional champions from BHS were:

  • Ava Wade-1600m run (5:08.13)-a personal best
  • Jayla Bedel-3200m run (11:36.02)-a personal best and broke the school record set back in 1994 by Angie Menser (11:36.4)
  • Maycee Holtkamp-high jump (5’1″)
  • Ella King-shot put (43’6.5″)-breaking the school record she set earlier this year (42’8.5″)

Runners up who automatically advance to the Regional:

  • Ava Wade-800m run
  • Ella King-discus
  • 4 x 800m relay team of  Jayla Bedel, Caitlin Raver, Paige Allgeier and Ava Wade
  • 4 x 400m relay team of Ava Wade, Maggie Jelinek, Bayleigh Demaree and Abby Miller

3rd place finishers qualifying for the Regionals round are:

  • Abby Miller-400m dash
  • Isabel Meyer-pole vault
  • Leah Meyer-discus
