The Cincinnati Reds beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-4 at Citizens Bank Park in the series finale heard yesterday afternoon on WRBI. The Reds win back-to-back games to claim the series and finish the road trip at 3-3. Andrew Abbott gave up 3 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), struck out 3 and walked 3 in 5 1/3 innings to get the win. His record goes to 4-2. Sal Stewart had his first four-hit game in the major leagues. He swatted his 12th home run of the season in the 9th inning to put the game away. Nathaniel Lowe added to the offensive output by driving in 3. The Reds are off today before returning home to start a three-game Memorial Day weekend series tomorrow night against St. Louis.
Before yesterday’s game, the Reds placed Eugenio Suarez on rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville. He’s been sidelined since late last month with a strained left oblique.
The Indiana Fever routed the expansion Portland Fire 90-73 in WNBA action last night in downtown Indianapolis. Indiana’s Aliyah Boston led all scorers with 24 points, and Kelsey Mitchell added 21. Caitlin Clark sat out last night’s game with a back injury. The Fever (3-2) have won three straight. They’ll wrap up the homestand tomorrow night against Golden State.
Just four days from the drop of the green flag for the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500. Drivers have today off once again, prior to final practice on Friday during Carb Day.
