The Cincinnati Reds got past the Cleveland Guardians 7-6 in the series opener heard last night on WRBI. Matt McLain smacked two-run homer in the top of the 6th inning. He went 2-for-3 and drove in a total of three runs on the night. McLain also secured the game’s final out with a diving stop of a ground ball to his left on the grass in short right field. He fired to first base in time to nail down the final out of the game. Andrew Abbott gave up a run on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts over five innings to get the win. His record goes to 3-2. Tejay Antone, who came back last week from this third Tommy John surgery, recorded his first save since May 30, 2021. The middle game of the series is tonight. Righthander Chris Paddack makes his Reds debut. He’ll be opposed by Gavin Williams. Coverage begins at 6:00 on 103.9 FM.

Felix Rosenqvist topped Fast Friday practice at 233 mph at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the field prepares for qualifying this weekend for the 110th Indy 500. We’ll have broadcast coverage of Indy 500 qualifying starting at 11:00 this morning on 103.9 FM.

The Washington Mystics outlasted the Indiana Fever 104-102 in overtime in WNBA action last night in downtown Indianapolis. Caitlin Clark poured in a game-high 32 points in a losing effort. Indiana drops to 1-2 on the season. The Fever will be back in action tomorrow night at home against the Seattle Storm.
