Mr. Marvin C. “Marv” Mays

Mr. Marvin C. “Marv” Mays, age 70, of Patriot, Indiana, formerly of Florence, Indiana, entered this life on July 10, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the son of the late Clayborn and Ethel L. (Parnell) Mays. He was raised in Ohio and Indiana and attended school in West Harrison, Indiana. Marvin was united in marriage to Pamela Sue “Pam” Harmon on August 18, 2012 in Florence, Indiana. Marvin formerly worked in maintenance for the City of Brookville for over 10 years. He also worked for several farmers in Switzerland County and the surrounding counties. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Laurel, Indiana, where he was baptized on June 26, 2005. Marvin enjoyed mowing, the outdoors, tinkering in his garage, socializing with family and friends, sitting at the Ohio River watching the boats go by, and listening to music. Marvin never met a stranger and had a laugh that was so contagious, and he could light up any room. Marvin passed away at 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Waters of Dillsboro in Dillsboro, Indiana.

Marvin will be missed by his wife, Pamela Sue “Pam” Mays of Patriot, IN; his daughters and sons, Neil “Toby” Rugg of Rising Sun, IN, Nicole Mays and her companion, Ray of Owenton, KY, Jay Mays of Owenton, KY, Bambi Ranieri and her husband, Joe of Mason, OH, Tammy Claypoole and her husband, John of Patriot, IN, Karissa Kietzman of Vevay, IN, and Misty Saylor and her husband, Jeremy of East Enterprise, IN; his grandchildren, Trista Gaylord (Chet Hall), Katy Brooks (Justin), Joshua Proctor (Lacey Hull), Sarah Proctor, Caleb Claypoole (Grace), Patrick Northern, Alexis Dunn, Dakota Saylor (Gage), Violett Saylor (Collin), Rylin Saylor, and Serenity Saylor, Brooklyn Mays, Carson Mays, Ava Mays, Cedric Montgomery, Joey Mays, Beau Mays, and Austin Haas; his great-grandchildren, Surenitie, Aleeyiah, Colten, Jayde, Piper, Hydie, Kenzley, Kaisley, Easton, Blakeleigh, and Asher; his brother, Paul Mays of Laurel, IN; his sisters, Betty Love and her husband, Jerry of Vevay, IN, Elsie Vorbroker and her husband, David of Aurora, IN, Ellis Mays of Laurel, IN, and Blanche Logan and her husband, Linwood of Louisville, KY; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Debbie Cunningham, Tim and Leanna Harmon, George Claypoole, and Raymond Cunningham; and his several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayborn and Ethel L. (Parnell) Mays; his granddaughter, Emily Elizabeth Proctor; his brothers, Russell and Clayborn Mays; his sister, Bonnie Scudder; his nephews, Justin William Claypoole, Timothy Gayle Harmon, Jr., and Jeremy Kenneth Beuther; his best friend and cousin, Larry Parnell; his father-in-law and best friend and mother-in-law, Gayle and Ruth Harmon; his nieces, Tonya Roxanne Love, and Joy Lewis; his great-niece, Maelynn Grace Mays; his best friend and cousin, Larry Parnell; and his sisters-in-law, Jill Ann (Davis) Harmon, and Lisa Kay (Harmon) Claypoole.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2026, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2026, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
