
(St. Leon, IN) – Six East Central FFA members and three Dearborn County 4-H members competed last Saturday in the Indiana 4-H/FFA Poultry and Egg Career Development Event (CDE) at the Boone County Fairgrounds in Lebanon.
FFA members evaluated past production hens, graded several classes of market poultry, identified retail cuts and processed types of poultry, candled eggs, evaluated exterior egg quality and graded broken out eggs.
The East Central senior team of Tyler Stenger, Reagan Whitehead, Alaina Schutte, and Acelynn Retzki, placed sixth out of 24 teams.
Nolan McDaniel competed individually and placed 71st out of 97 competitors.
Stenger placed fourth overall, while Whitehead came in sixth.
The Dearborn County 4-H team of Jack Rosenberger, Damien Dunn, and Adelaide Dunn, placed second out of 16 teams.
Damien and Adelaide came in third and fourth in the competition respectively.
Gracie Weber also competed as an individual in the junior competition, and placed 22nd out of 59 competitors.
This was East Central’s second time competing in this CDE.
The team was coached this year by Kelly Dunn.
