(Decatur County, IN) – INDOT is scheduled to close U.S. 421 just north of Napoleon on or after Monday, May 18, to complete a culvert replacement project in Decatur County.
The work will take place about three miles north of State Road 229 between County Road 550 East and County Road 700 East.
U.S. 421 is expected to reopen at this location in late July, weather permitting.
During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route which follows State Road 350 to State Road 129 to State Road 46 back to U.S. 421.
As part of this contract with Dave O’Mara Contractors, Inc., additional closures will take place on U.S. 421 this year in Decatur County.
INDOT says it will continue to provide additional information and updates via INDOT News, Facebook, and X.
This project is part of a $2.9 million contract awarded to Dave O’Mara in October 2025.
Drivers are reminded to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones.
All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
