The South Ripley boys hosted and won a middle school four-way track and field meet last night. It was the Raiders 60; Shawe Memorial 45; St. Louis 42, and Jac-Cen-Del 36. JCD won the girls meet with 61 points, followed by St. Louis with 57; South Ripley 55, and Shawe 11.
Congratulations to Jac-Cen-Del’s Kaitlynn Shadday, who shares ORVC Softball Player of the Week honors with two others. She had five hits and 10 RBIs in two games last week, and went 2-0 over nine innings pitched while striking out 20, including 18 Ks against Southwestern.
The Chicago Cubs beat the Reds 7-6 in 10 innings at Wrigley Field in a game heard last night on WRBI. A bases loaded walk to Michael Busch brought home Nico Hoerner with the game-winning run. The Reds have dropped six straight and seven of their last eight, and hope to avoid going 0-7 on the road trip in the four-game series wrap up this afternoon. Rhett Lowder makes the start for Cincinnati. He’s 3-2 with a 5.09 earned run average. The Cubs will send lefthander Shota Imanaga to the mound at game’s beginning. He’s 3-2 with a 2.40 ERA. Reds closer Emilio Pagan was placed on the 15-day injured list with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain. Pagan avoided surgery but is expected to miss four to eight weeks…
In other roster moves, lefthanded starting pitcher Brandon Williamson was transferred to the 60-day injured list. He’s sidelined with left shoulder fatigue…Righthanded pitcher Pierce Johnson was activated from the bereavement list…Pitcher Chase Petty was optioned to Triple-A Louisville…And the Reds selected the contract of righthanded pitcher Tejay Antone from the Louisville Bats.
The Indiana Fever have waived guards Megan McConnell, Jessica Timmons and Kayana Traylor. McConnell is the sister of Indiana Pacers guard T.J. McConnell. The Fever open the 2026 season against the Dallas Wings on Saturday afternoon at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
