Gary Leo “Poco” Vogelsang

Gary Leo “Poco” Vogelsang, age 71 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026, at The Chateau in Batesville.  Born April 17, 1955, in Batesville, he is the son of Marvin and Mary (Nee: Walke) Vogelsang.

Gary was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville and worked for the Ball Corporation as a Chemical Processor Maintainer, retiring in 2023. He enjoyed games of mental strategy like word searches, jigsaw puzzles, and quiz booklets. He liked to collect and research old coins. Gary was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Browns.

Gary is survived by his siblings David (Marlene) Vogelsang of St. Leon, Indiana, Debbie Amberger, Ron (Donna) Vogelsang, and John (Mary) Vogelsang, all of Batesville; sister-in-law Laura Pulskamp; nieces Jill Hollins, Hilary Nobbe, Stacey Prewitt, Beth Oesterling, Brittany Geiscke, and Brooke Leonard; nephews Brandon, Ben, Jared, Jacob, Alex, Evan, Adam, and Eli Vogelsang, as well as 22 great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brother Tom Vogelsang, brother-in-law Steve Amberger and sister-in-law Brenda Vogelsang.

Visitation is Monday, May 11th, from 10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville, with Fr. John Barker OFM officiating.  The burial will be at St. Louis Cemetery in Batesville.
