Ms. Margaret Lee (Netherland) Brown Weidmann, age 99, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on September 10, 1926 in Switzerland County, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Norvin Coley and Mollie K. (McKenzie) Netherland. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana where she attended the Vevay High School. Margaret Lee was united in marriage to James Robert “Bob” Brown on October 10, 1943 in Green Castle, Indiana. This union of 20 years was blessed with four children. Margaret Lee was later united in marriage on March 28, 1981 to Rudolph C. “Rudy” Weidmann in Cincinnati, Ohio and they shared 14 years of marriage together until his death on January 17, 1995. Margaret Lee owned and operated Vevay Swiss Inn and Paul’s Bar in Vevay, Indiana, retiring in 1981 after several years of hard work and dedication. She was a life member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 Ladies Auxiliary and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 Ladies Auxiliary. Margaret Lee cherished her time spent in the company of her friends, delighting in lively conversation often accompanied by a well-poured glass of bourbon and in later years, a gin and tonic. She also enjoyed going shopping in Western Hills. Margaret Lee passed away at 8:40 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.
Margaret Lee is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Messmore of Covington, KY; her sons, Randy Brown and his wife, Lorraine of Vevay, IN, and Bobby Brown and his wife, Diana of Channahon, IL; her grandchildren, Shawn Messmore and his wife, Lisa, Jason Messmore and his wife, Terri, Brandon Messmore and his wife, Julie, Chad Brown and his wife, Carey, Jamiel Thomas, Ryan Brown, Megan Ferreira and her husband, Victor, and Bryan Messmore and his wife, Melanie; her great-grandchildren, Garren, Taylor, A.J., Niko, Kylee, Gracie, Maddie, Vivie, Lyla Rose, Frankie, Addy, McKenzie, Sloan, Chase, Carter, Nolan, Hannah, Bryanne, Dylan, and Mollie; her great-great-grandchildren, Tayson, Jordan, Olivia, and Cooper; and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Norvin Coley Netherland, died June 16, 1952; her mother, Mollie K. (McKenzie) Netherland, died May 18, 1980; her husband, Rudolph C. “Rudy” Weidmann, died January 17, 1995; her son, Dennis Jay “Denny” Brown, died July 7, 2013; and her sisters, Freda Ackerman, died March 25, 1996 and Geneva E. Breeck, died May 6, 2008.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2026, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services and Auxiliary Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2026, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
