Alice A. Stang, age 86, of Brookville, Indiana died Monday, April 27, 2026 at Envive Healthcare in Brookville following a lengthy illness.
Born May 6, 1939, in Oak Forest, Indiana she was the daughter of the late Ambrose ‘Tim’ & Edna (Meyer) Bruns. She was a graduate of the former Springfield High School with the class of 1957. She became the wife of Glen Stang on October 26, 1957, and he survives.
She owned & operated the former Stang’s Shoe Store in Brookville for 18 years. She had also worked at the Franklin County Prosecutors office for nine years.
She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church where she had served as a Lector for many years. She had also served as a Brownie Scout Leader.
In her leisure time she enjoyed playing cards, spending time with her grandchildren, as well as traveling. She and her husband spent 25 years enjoying winters in Ellenton, Florida.
Besides Glen, her loving husband of nearly 69 years, survivors include three children, David (Debbie) Stang, Sharon (Terry) Newkirk, and Steven (Tina) Stang all of Brookville, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Bryan Burns, Mathew Newkirk, Krysta Hamilton, Trevor Stang, Tana Pepper, Annetta Brack, Troy Pflum, Stacy Morris; sixteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; three siblings, Ivan (Joyce) Bruns of Brookville, Indiana, Linda Worm of Chaska, Minnesota, Cecil (Paula) Bruns of Brookville, Indiana; sister-in-law, Bonnie Bruns of Batesville, Indiana.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Selm, three brothers, David Bruns, Lester Bruns, Ron Bruns; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Bruns, brother-in-law, James Worm, a niece Julie Selm, two nephews, Richard Bruns and Jeff Selm.
Family & friends may visit from 9 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Rev. Santhosh Yohannan will officiate the Funeral Mass on Saturday, May 2, 2026, 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic, 145 E. St. Michaels Blvd., Brookville. Burial will follow in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Brookville.
