Batesville traveled to Aurora Friday night to compete in the 20-team South Dearborn Invitational.

The night started with high winds which produced a pop up shower that dropped the temperature several degrees.

Another storm rolled in and lingered until officials decided after the boys 300 M Hurdles to cancel the rest of the meet.

There were five running events and two field events that were uncomplete.

Despite the weather challenges, the Bulldogs had some pretty good performances: there was a meet record broken, a school record broken, a school record tied, six first place finishes and 17 personal best performances.

The Batesville girls were well on their way to winning the meet with 102 points already earned compared to second place Lawrenceburg at 59 points.

The Dogs started off the night winning both the boys and the girls 4 x 800m relays, with the girls setting a new meet record time and a personal best for the season of 9:56.38. The event was run by Bayleigh Demaree, Jayla Bedel, Caitlin Raver and Ava Wade.  For the boys relay team it was Cannon Clark, Cash Myers, Ryan Benz and Griffin Koester (8:41.4; pictured).

Isabel Meyer vaulted to tie the school record (set by Dani Strobel in 2013) and set a personal best of 10′ in pole vault, which also gave her the win.

Ella King broke her own school record, set last year of 41’10” with a throw of 42’8.5″ and a 1st place finish.

Leah Meyer also placed first in the discus with a big personal best of 115’11”.

The girls 4 x 100m relay had a PR of over a second (52.05), with the team of Maggie Jelinek, Isabel Meyer, Maycee Holtkamp and Abby Miller, giving them a 1st place finish.
