Batesville shut out Franklin County 9-0 in varsity baseball on Thursday at the Dawg Pound. Pitchers William Huber and Ronan Post combined on the shutout. Huber notched the win. He gave up seven hits, struck out three and walked three over six innings. Tyler Weaver took the loss for the Wildcats. He went 4 1/3 innings, allowed three runs on four hits, struck out one and walked two.
The Bulldogs broke the game open with six runs in the 6th inning. Post and Noah Weigel each collected two hits to lead the Batesville offense. In addition, Post and Jackson Elston drove in two runs a piece. Aiden Blair led Franklin County at the plate by going 3-for-3…In the JV game played at Liberty Park, it was Franklin County over Batesville 11-8.
Hauser got past Batesville 178 to 185 in JV golf at Clifty Creek Golf Course. The Bulldogs Jax Negovetich took medalist honors with a six-over-par-42.

The Cincinnati Reds begin a six-game homestand with the first of three tonight night against the Detroit Tigers. The starting pitching matchup in the weekend series lid lifter will feature a pair of lefthanders. Andrew Abbott goes for the Reds. He’s 0-2 with a 5.84 earned run average. The Tigers will counter with Framber Valdez, who is 2-1 with a 3.30 ERA. Air time on 103.9 FM is 6:10.

The NFL Draft kicked off last night in Pittsburgh. As expected, former Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza was the first overall pick by the Las Vegas Raiders. Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love was selected at #3 by the Arizona Cardinals. Wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. from IU was picked at #30 by the New York Jets. And running back Jadarian Price from Notre Dame was taken with the 32nd selection by the Seattle Seahawks. The Cincinnati Bengals will choose in tonight’s second round at #41 while the Indianapolis Colts’s pick comes at #47.
