(Oldenburg, IN) – The Sisters of St. Francis at Oldenburg invite you to a special self-guided tour of their historic Motherhouse and grounds on May 16 from 2 to 4:30 p.m., as they celebrate 175 years of faith, service and community.
Guests are invited to explore pieces of convent history dating back to the 1850’s and learn about foundress Mother Theresa Hackelmeier.
Organizers say a highlight of the tour is The Immaculate Conception Chapel, with special attention paid to the details that amplify its beauty.
A timeline of the history of the Sisters of St. Francis is also on display that traces their journey.
Golf-cart tours of the cemetery and Memorial Chapel will also be available.
Sisters will be on hand throughout the tour to answer questions and engage in conversation.
Unique handmade items will be available in the gift shop.
Light refreshments will be served in the Sisters’ dining room.
Organizers say, whether you’re a history enthusiast, a local resident, or simply looking for an enjoyable afternoon, the tour offers a unique opportunity to connect with the Sisters’ legacy.
All are welcome to attend this free event.
