
William David “Bill” Bruton, 83, of Westport, passed away at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis. He was born on May 1, 1942, in Glasgow, Kentucky, the son of Ebert and Leni (Garrett) Bruton. He was born and raised in Glasgow and was a 1960 graduate of Temple Hill High School. He moved to Columbus in 1962 and the Westport area in 2002. He worked at Reliance Electric which later became Rockwell International where he retired after 43 years of service. Bill was a member of Rockcreek Baptist Church, Stoney Lonesome Motorcycle Club and a former member of the Westport Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed working around the house, restoring old tractors, golfing and fishing. Bill married Joan Hall on March 5, 2003, in Westport, Indiana. She survives along with his daughter, Paula Kay Button of Glasgow, Kentucky; his stepchildren, Carla Hill of Columbus, James Wright of Indianapolis, John Wright and Lena Richter both of Columbus; his sister, Jean Frazer of Glasgow, Kentucky; his brothers, Donald (Beverly) Bruton of Glasgow, Kentucky and Billy Bruton of Indianapolis; his grandchildren, Braden Kirkpatrick and Natasha (Daylan) Bailey, both of Glasgow, Kentucky; his step grandchildren, Matthew, Lauren and Dana; his great grandchildren, Grayson Button, Garrett Button, Maitlin Button, Mallory Bailey and Raegan Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Vaudine; his brother, Kenneth Douglas Royce and his grandson, Mason Tate Button. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Rockcreek Cemetery. Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport has been entrusted with the arrangements.
