Batesville track and field swept last evening’s South Dearborn Quad Meet. It was the Bulldog girls 116.5; Madison 74.5; the host Knights 31, and Franklin County 18…In the boys meet, Batesville had 86 points, followed by SD with 61; Franklin County 49, and Madison 45.
East Central topped Batesville 181-201 in middle school golf at Hillcrest. Rowan Maple led the Bulldogs with a 42.
The Cincinnati Reds got past the San Francisco Giants 2-1 at Great American Ball Park in a game heard last night on WRBI. The Reds had just three hits, but two of them left the yard. Spencer Steer hit his third home of the season in the 3rd inning, and Sal Stewart clubbed his team-leading fifth homer of the season in the 4th. Brady Singer gave up one run in six innings to earn the win and improve to 1-1. Emilio Pagan came on in the 9th and nailed down his fifth save of the season. With the win, the Reds are now 10-7 and tied for first place in the National League Central Division. Game two of the series is tonight. Rhett Lowder makes the start for Cincinnati; former Red Tyler Mahle goes for San Francisco. Airtime is 6:10 on 103.9 FM.
The Indianapolis Colts have signed free agent safety Nasir Adderley. The 28-year-old Adderley previously spent four seasons (2019-2022) with the Los Angeles Chargers before announcing his retirement from the NFL in March 2023. Back in February, Adderley announced on social media his intent to return to the NFL. In four seasons with the Chargers, Adderley appeared in 50 games – including 44 starts – with 227 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and four tackles for a loss.
