(Ripley County, IN) – The Ripley County Prosecutor’s Office has signed a contract with Axon Enterprises.
Prosecutor Ric Hertel recently told WRBI’s The Daily Pod that this allows his office to receive body cam footage from local law enforcement agencies, including the Batesville Police Department, Ripley County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police.
“They’re able to upload that information to us, because we are required through our ethical rules to provide this information and evidence that we have to the defense attorneys who represent those accused of crimes,” said Hertel.
He says this is the way of the future.
“Because almost every agency right now is equipped with body cameras, and there’s a lot of body cam footage for us to go through,” Hertel said. “Axon is a great way to process it a little bit quicker.”
Hertel says another initiative his office is involved in, is ongoing efforts to maintain grant funding for an assistant prosecutor and a victim’s advocate through state and federal dollars.
