Traffic Text Scam Takes on New Form

(Franklin County, IN) – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says there’s a new version of the traffic enforcement scam going around.

Residents have reported receiving notices in which they’re being asked to pay fines through a QR code (pictured).

Deputies say no law enforcement agency or court will ask for you to pay a fine through this method.

If you receive such a notice, or have questions, you’re urged to look up the number of that agency or court by means other than what appears on the notice, and to call that agency or court directly to verify.

The sheriff’s office asks you to help family and loved ones of all ages to ensure they don’t fall victim to this and other scams making the rounds.
