The Batesville Bulldogs dispatched the Rising Sun Shiners 13-3 in varsity baseball on Thursday. Carson Meyer homered and got the win on the mound. He gave up three unearned runs and one hit while striking out six and walking three over four innings. The Bulldogs pounded out 13 hits in the game. Ronan Post went 3-for-4 at the plate. Dane Dudley and Jackson Elston drove in three runs each for Batesville. The Bulldogs will be back action tomorrow against the Walton Verona Bearcats.

The Cincinnati Reds open a three-game weekend series on the road this afternoon against the Texas Rangers. Brady Singer starts for the Reds. The Rangers counter with lefthander MacKenzie Gore. Airtime this afternoon on 103.9 FM is 3:35.

Reds lefthander Nick Lodolo, who is on the 15-day injured list due to a blister on his left index finger, was placed on a rehab assignment at Single-A Daytona, and started on Thursday against Jupiter. Lodolo retired the first eight batters he faced, but had to leave the game in the 3rd inning due to a flareup of the blister.

The Indiana Pacers visit the Charlotte Hornets in NBA action this evening. Coverage on 103.9 FM and the WRBI App begins following Reds Baseball.

Safety Kyle Dugger and cornerback Ja’Sir Taylor signed free agent contracts with the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday. Both players signed one year deals. Dugger was drafted by New England in 2020 and was traded to Pittsburgh last October. Taylor was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022 until he was dealt to the New York Jets in November.

The NCAA men’s Final Four teams are in Indianapolis for tomorrow night’s national semifinals. Illinois faces UConn, followed by Michigan vs. Arizona. Tomorrow night’s winners will advance to Monday night’s national championship game.
