Debra Jade Elizabeth (Ault) Carlisle, 31, of Batesville, Indiana passed away peacefully in her sleep at Aperion Care Summerfield in Cloverdale, Indiana on March 24, 2026. Jade was born on May 24, 1994 in Muncie, Indiana. She was the daughter of Christopher “Chris” and Laura (Lukens) Ault.
Little Debi was adopted by the Aults when she was a mere four years old. They knew she would be a wonderful part of their family as soon as they saw her. She was cheerful and friendly. Her smile lit up any room, and her frustration — in her older years as Jade — could clear it. In her early teen years she was always trying to help family and friends by babysitting or trying to babysit. Jade loved to laugh and quote favorite movies with her dad. She loved to dance and sing in the car with her mom and sister, Chelsea. Jade was a force of nature who pulled family, friends, teachers, and caring professionals into her spellbinding orbit.
Jade dearly loved her children: Lakein, Abigail, and stepdaughter, Arianna, with ex-husband, James; and Laura with ex-boyfriend, Ryan. She always did her best to take care of her children but the genetic disease she had prevented her from being the mother and partner she dreamed of being. Huntington’s disease affected her emotional and mental health long before the outward physical symptoms became apparent. It could not have been prevented. All of Jade’s family and friends were delighted when she was able to spend the last year of her life in Aperion Care Summerfield, a long-term nursing care facility for Huntington’s patients. The nurses, social workers, and administration work tirelessly to give their patients the best experience possible. She was so loved and cared for there. All of us have learned so much about Huntington’s disease and are so grateful the staff made her time there special. She was adored there also by the caring staff from SouthernCare Hospice. She so enjoyed having her hair and nails done and resting out in the common area living room during the day surrounded by other residents and staff.
Debra Jade is survived by her children: Laura, Abigail, Lakein, and Arianna; parents: Chris and Laura Ault; grandparents: Dixie Ault and Linda Lukens; siblings: Logan (Amber), Chelsea (Travis), Jonathon, James (Ocean), JD, and Brooklyn; nieces and nephews: Marek, Gemma, Ronin, Mazie, Niko, Jaxon, Andrew, Emmett, River, Kingston, Mia, and Xena; and numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jade was preceded in death by her grandparents: Curtis H. Ault, Brittain E. Lukens III, and Loretta (Lori) Bushnell Lukens; brother: Channing; and her biological parents.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 422 N. Township Line Rd., Batesville, IN 47006.
