Phyllis Ann (Craven) Joerger passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, after a brief stay in the hospital. Phyllis grew up in Milan and was in the first freshman class in the new Milan High School, graduating in 1963. She worked at the Four Corners car hop in Milan, delivering food & drinks to patrons in their cars.  After going back to school to brush up on business law, typing and bookkeeping, she began working at the sawmill in Milan as a bookkeeper, then later became an insurance agent for Mutual Insurance of Dearborn County.

Phyllis was just ten years old when she started sewing on a treadle machine. She enjoyed sewing throughout her life and made things such as kid’s clothes, blankets, and dance costumes for her granddaughter. Phyllis treasured every moment with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was fortunate to be able to babysit and play with them as often as she did.

Phyllis will be deeply missed by her children Allan (Heidi) Thompson, Jennifer (Jim) Hunger; grandchildren Nathan & Hannah Thompson, Anthony, Katie and Bryant Hunger; great grandchildren Caroline & Maisie Thompson and Brooklyn, Addie, Otto Hunger, Benjamin Swanson, and Liam Hunger; sister Melissa (Mike) McMannon. She is preceded in death by Ralph Joerger, her husband of 34 years; sibling Mike Craven and parents Warren & Verna Craven.

Services for Phyllis will be held on Tuesday, March 31 at Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00am and will continue until the time of the prayer service at 11:30am. Burial will immediately follow at St. Martin’s Catholic Church of All Saints Parish. Memorials in Phyllis’ honor can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the visitation, can be made online, or can be mailed to the funeral home.
