Area Players Named IBCA All-State

Several area high school basketball stars have received All-State honors from the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA).

Batesville junior James Hughes earned Underclass Large School All-State honors; sophomore Eli Gilpin and junior Drew Volz from South Ripley were named Underclass Honorable Mention, along with South Dearborn juniors Scout Gray and Wyatt Adams; and Micah Norman and Gabe Riehle from Milan, plus South Decatur’s Drake Scaggs and Cayden Drake earned Senior Honorable Mention All-State honors.

The All-State teams are selected through a process organized by the IBCA.

All IBCA-member head coaches have the opportunity to nominate players. A panel of 22 IBCA coaches – 16 from current regional areas plus six at-large representatives (two each from IHSAA districts 1, 2 and 3) – reviews the nominations and votes to determine the honor teams.

Former West Lafayette coach David Wood is the non-voting committee chairman and finalizes the lists.
