(Southeastern IN) – We have this reminder that the Statewide Tornado Drill is set for 10:15 this morning.
Sirens throughout Southeastern Indiana will be activated as part of the drill, which will be broadcast as an Emergency Alert System (EAS) on radio and TV.
The drill is part of Indiana Severe Weather Preparedness Week, which began Sunday and runs through Saturday.
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) and the National Weather Service encourage you to act now to prepare for severe weather.
IDHS says families, schools and workplaces should make tornado safety plans, and officials suggest you practice those during this morning’s test drill.
Preparations to stay ready for tornados and severe storms during the drill include:
• Moving to your designated safe shelter area.
• Reviewing your family or workplace emergency plan.
• Making sure everyone knows where to go during a real warning.
Emergency management officials say even a quick practice can make a life‑saving difference when severe weather hits.
