Batesville held off archrival Greensburg 59-54 in  Class 3A Sectional 29 semifinal action at South Dearborn heard last night on the Sports Voice. It’s the first time in 22 years that the Bulldogs have beaten the Pirates three times in the same season. James Hughes led Batesville with 19 points; Kamryn Holcomb added 16; Ethan Schneider chipped in 11, and Brayden Maple had 10. Ethan Smith and Jacoby Miller both scored 19 points to lead Greensburg. With the win, Batesville moves on to tonight’s championship game with a 19-4 record. Greensburg ends the season at 12-14…The Bulldogs will face host South Dearborn in tonight’s championship game after the Knights upended Jennings County 55-45. In the second contest of our semifinal doubleheader last night on WRBI, Southwestern knocked off South Ripley 62-52 in Class 2A Sectional 45 in Hanover. Blake Gunter led the Raiders with 14 points while Drew Volz added 10. Ripley finishes the season at 18-6.

In other semifinals involving local teams, Milan outlasted Trinity Lutheran 70-69 in double overtime in Class 1A Sectional 60 on the Indians’ home planks. Milan goes to 14-10…In the nightcap at the Teepee, 3rd-ranked Hauser eliminated Oldenburg Academy 65-39. The Twisters finish at 11-13…Milan goes up against the 23-2 and defending champion Jets tonight for the sectional title…And South Decatur dumped Edinburgh 61-37 in 1A 59 at Tri. The 17-6 Cougars play Waldron for the sectional crown tonight in Straughn.

The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Indiana Pacers 128-117 in NBA action heard late last night on the Sports Voice. Paskal Siakam led Indiana with 26 points. The Pacers western road trip continues tomorrow night against the Portland Trailblazers. Coverage begins at 8:30 p.m. on 103.9 FM and the WRBI App.

The San Francisco Giants doubled up the Cincinnati Reds 6-3 in Cactus League baseball in Scottsdale, Arizona yesterday. The Reds visit the Kansas Royals this afternoon. Airtime on 103.9 FM is 2:50.

In college basketball on this Saturday, #15 Purdue is at Wisconsin; Notre Dame visits Boston College, and Butler goes to DePaul.

The second race of this year’s IndyCar series takes place this afternoon at Phoenix Raceway. The green flag drops at 3 on the Good Ranchers 250.
