(Sunman, IN) – A Sunman woman has been charged with Theft between $750 and $50,000, and Official Misconduct (both Level 6 felonies) for allegedly stealing from the town while she was employed as its utility clerk.
Fifty-nine-year-old Denise Lunsford was booked in the Ripley County Jail last week and is free on $2,500 cash bond.
The charges stem from the discovery last September of a $5,662.73 discrepancy in Sunman Utility Department funds.
Charges were filed against Lunsford by the Ripley County Prosecutor’s Office following Indiana State Police and State Board of Accounts investigations.
A jury trial is scheduled for July 21 in Ripley Superior Court.
