Ms. Donna Jo Springer Nelson

Ms. Donna Jo (Springer) Nelson, age 71, of West Chester Township, Ohio, entered this life on May 30, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1972, Donna was united in marriage to Wayne Haynes in Cincinnati, Ohio. This union was blessed with two children, Michael and Christopher. Donna was later united in marriage on March 1, 1983 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Gary Nelson. This union was blessed with two children, Nicole and Zack. Donna was a beloved lunch lady at Delhi Junior High School, where she greeted many students with her warm smile. She later served as manager of the Elks Lodge #524 in Madison, Indiana, for four years, and worked as a front desk clerk at the Ogle Haus in Vevay, Indiana. Donna was later employed as a cook at Argosy Casino in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, for several years. Donna resided in Delhi, Ohio, for many years and was a member of Plum Creek Baptist Church in Switzerland County, Indiana. Her faith was important to her, and she loved attending church. She enjoyed playing bingo, scrabble, and cards, especially with her Mom. She loved to cook for her family and treasured her time spent gathered around the table. Donna also had a deep passion for genealogy and ancestry, dedicating countless hours researching and preserving her family’s history. Donna passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash Inpatient Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Donna will be missed by her sons and daughter, Michael Haynes and his wife, Nickie of Lebanon, OH, Christopher Haynes of Middletown, OH, Nicole (Nelson) Klawitter and her husband, Brad of Scarborough, ME, and Zack Nelson of Cincinnati, OH; her grandchildren, Madeline, Caleb, Jocelyn, Hailey, Noah, Ethan, Kynlie, Tytus, Kingstyn, Riley, and Kaleb; her brothers, Gary Springer and his wife, Sharon of Lamb, IN, Donald Timothy Springer of Vevay, IN, Kenny Springer of Vevay, IN, Thomas Springer of Vevay, IN, Douglas Springer and his wife, Bev of Osgood, IN, Phillip Springer of Vevay, IN, and Joseph Springer and his wife, Joanne of Vevay, IN; her sisters, Rebecca Meyers of Vevay, IN, Colleen Cox of Vevay, IN, and Debra Springer of Vevay, IN; and her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Joseph Springer; and her mother, Carol Dean (Toole) Springer.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2026, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2026, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
