In other sectional games involving area teams this evening, Franklin County goes up against Jennings County at South Dearborn, and East Central battles Franklin Community in Class 4A Sectional 14 at Columbus North.

Greensburg’s Aly Powers has been tapped as one of Hoosier Basketball Magazine’s top 60 senior girls’ basketball players. Powers and the others who were selected will participate in the 44th annual top 60 senior workout this Sunday at Beech Grove High School in Indianapolis. The first session is from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by the second session from 3:30 to 5:30. Both sessions are open to the public; admission is $9.00.

The Purdue Boilermakers tumbled seven spots to #15 in this week’s AP Top 25 College Basketball poll. Duke remains #1, followed by Arizona, Michigan, UConn and Florida to round out the top five.

Quenten Jackson has been signed to a full contract with the Indiana Pacers. He had previously been on a two-way deal between the Pacers and the Noblesville Boom. Head coach Rick Carlisle says that “he deserves it.” Jackson has appeared in 70 NBA games over the course of his two-way deal, and he averaged seven points per contest in that stretch.

Guard Dalton Risner has signed a one-year contract extension with the Cincinnati Bengals for the 2026 season. The deal is worth a reported $5 million. Risner joined the Bengals as a free agent last August. He played in 14 games and made 11 starts for Cincinnati in 2025. He’ll be an eighth-year player in ’26.

Today is the deadline for NFL teams to either tag free agent players or sign them to long-term deals. For the Indianapolis Colts, the discussion is between quarterback Daniel Jones and wide receiver Alec Pierce. Both are free agents and heavy role players on the team. General manager Chris Ballard said last week that talks with both players had been going well. The Colts have until 4:00 this afternoon to decide whether to transition tag or franchise tag either player.

The Cincinnati Reds hammered the Chicago Cubs 17-9 in Cactus League baseball yesterday in Goodyear, Arizona. The Reds have the day off and will host Cuba tomorrow before the World Baseball Classic.
