Deborah Hensley, 74, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, in Batesville, Indiana.
She was born on October 7, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of the late Lloyd Sturgeon and Geneva (Powell) Sturgeon. Deborah was united in marriage to her loving husband, Gary R. Hensley Sr., who preceded her in death.
Deborah worked for many years as a talented hairdresser and proudly owned and operated her own salon. She was devoted to her clients and formed many lasting friendships throughout her career.
A longtime member of Greendale Church of Christ, Deborah faithfully served her church community, including serving as choir director. She had a beautiful singing voice and was fluent in American Sign Language, using her gifts to nurture and encourage others. Deborah found joy in life’s simple pleasures-canning, ceramics, yard work (especially pulling weeds), and rock and gem hunting. She was known for her caring heart, generous spirit, and the love she poured into her family and friends.
Deborah is survived by her daughter, Bridget (Rick) Davis; her sons and daughters-in-law, Gary (Karin) Hensley and Steven (Krista) Hensley; her grandson, Hunter (Brooke) Hensley; her grandchildren, Grace Davis, Remi Hensley, and Colt Hensley; her great-grandchild, Melanie Hensley; her siblings, Jim (Vivian) Sturgeon;, Dana (Philip) Schimmel; and her brother-in-law, Ken Evans.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gary R. Hensley Sr.; her parents, Lloyd and Geneva Sturgeon; and her siblings, Margie Evans and Rick Sturgeon
