Marlene Sue (Montgomery) Cochran passed away February 23, 2026 in Greensburg. She was born in Liberty, Indiana on August 25, 1935 to Ralph and Irene (McCashland) Montgomery. Just after turning one year, she, along with her sister Marilyn and parents moved to Greensburg. She married Robert H. Cochran July 5, 1959 in Greensburg.
Marlene graduated from Greensburg High School in 1953. She continued her education at Methodist Hospital and graduated as an R.N. in 1956. Her first job was with Rush Memorial Hospital but after a short year she decided to come home and started working at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. She was a surgery nurse until she resigned in February 1968 when their daughter, Karen, joined the family. She stayed home until Karen went to school and then took a part-time job with Decatur County Board of Health as county health nurse. She retired in 1999 but kept her license active until 2016 so she could help with giving shots at the Board of Health.
Marlene was active member of the First Christian Church in Greensburg, and upon her death she was the longest living member of the church. She was a member of the Golden Rule class, which she had made many friends over the years. She sat on various boards throughout the community but she will be most remembered by always supporting her husband, daughter, son-in-law and grandson in whatever adventure they took and a true friend to many.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Tony Higginbotham of Greensburg, grandson Ryan (Luci Ahrendt) Higginbotham of Greensburg and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn & William Goddard and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jane & Maurice Keith.
