Two Injured in Ripley County Wreck

(Ripley County, IN) – Two people are recovering after they were injured in a crash at the intersection of U.S. 50 and State Road 101 Thursday morning.

Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies arriving at the scene shortly after 6:30 a.m. found a pickup truck on its side and partially in the roadway, and an SUV off the south side of the road in an embankment. Passersby stopped to help those involved in the wreck out of their wrecked vehicles.

Deputies say the investigation determined that the pickup driver, Craig Jordan of Brookville, was southbound on State Road 101 and did not see the stop sign at the intersection because of the fog. His vehicle collided with the SUV driven by Katherine Stirn of Dillsboro.

Stirn and a 7-year-old passenger in her vehicle were transported to UC Medical Center and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. while Jordan was treated at the scene and released.

Investigators say drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.

The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Milan Police Department, Ripley County EMS, Milan Fire Department, Indiana Department of Transportation, Ripley County Communications, and Meyer’s Marathon.
