David Wayne Dale, 75, of Greensburg, passed away at 1:56 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on December 6, 1950, in Greensburg, Indiana, the son of Vanus Paul and Esther Gail (Hancock) Dale. He attended Jackson School until 11th grade and graduated from South Decatur High School. After high school David went to work at First National Bank as a teller. He then went to KOVA hauling nurse tanks and fertilizer. From there he worked for Bob Owens farming, hauling and custom work. He started at Delta Faucet in 1970 in assembly for 6 months and then went to the printing department. In 1983 he started driving a semi for Delta until 1995 and then went back into assembly where he retired in 2015. He was a member of the Waynesburg Christian Church where he was saved and baptized. He was a member of the NRA, NMLRA, Power of the Past and the Conservation Club. David enjoyed hunting, camping, dirt track racing, NASCAR and spending time with his grandkids, where he never missed a birthday party or ballgame. He was a 4-H shooting sports instructor for 20 years and helped coach Little League in New Point. He was an avid gun collector and loved going to gun shows. He loved watching westerns, John Wayne, High Chaparral and NCIS. He was on the sideline for every pedal pull cheering on the kids. He married Cynthia Lawrence on September 12, 2012, and she survives. He was the proud and devoted father to 4 children, Mike and Brent Dale, Jordan (Jeanine) Dale who preceded him in death, Jessica (Daron) Scudder and a stepson, Chris (Libby) Houpey. His grandchildren, Olivia and Ethan Dale, Alexis Dale, Lane, Isabella and Garrett Scudder, Weston and Savannah Houpey. He was a brother to Cathie Jo (Larry) Romine of Phoenix, Arizona and two nieces, Christy Jo (Terry) DeVries and Lori Jo Romine both of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jordan Dale. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. David Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at Rossburg Cemetery in New Point. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, February 22 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
