Donald Dale Maple

Donald Dale Maple, age 71 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville.  Born February 23, 1954, in Batesville, he is the son of Melvin L. and Rita (Nee: Goldsmith) Maple. He is a member of the 1973 graduating class of Batesville High School. He married Margie Tekulve on June 25, 1977, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Enochsburg, Indiana.

Donny was a devoted member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville.  On April 15, 1985, he began working for Batesville Casket Company as a Model Maker, where he spent 27 years before retiring in July of 2012. He truly enjoyed his career at Batesville Casket and took great pride in the many patents he earned during his time there.

He also worked at Romweber Furniture and had a lifelong love of woodworking, which he enjoyed as a hobby throughout his life. In his younger years, Donny worked at Walhill Farms, where he discovered his passion for cooking. He spent countless hours there helping host many memorable soup and sausage parties for friends and guests.

Later in life, Donny loved hosting his own cooking gatherings, teaching family and friends how to make sausage. These events became his cherished social time, and it was truly special to be part of the joy, laughter, and connection he created around the table.

Donny loved being outdoors and took pride in maintaining a beautiful, pristine lawn. He also enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, and coaching youth baseball. He coached his own children and proudly cheered on his grandchildren at their sporting events, always offering encouragement and support.

He served as Head Coach and President of Batesville Youth Baseball for many years while his children were involved in the program. Participating in youth outreach brought great joy to his heart, and he helped ignite a lifelong passion for baseball in the lives of countless young boys and girls throughout Batesville. His patience, leadership, and love for the game left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of learning from him. As much as he enjoyed these special hobbies, there is nothing he treasured more than being with his family and grandkids creating memories. He loved them fiercely, being the best Pop that he could be.

He is survived by his wife Margie Maple of Batesville; sons and daughters-in-law Nicholas and Lori Maple and Adam and Brooke Maple, all of Batesville; daughter and son-in-law Hilary and Cody Goins of Batesville; grandchildren Brayden and Brielle Maple, Stella and Rowan Maple and Paige, Brinley, and Bristol Goins, all of Batesville; brother and sister-in-law Melvin and Mary Ann Maple of Columbus, Indiana, sister and brother-in-law Brenda and David Boozer of Gilbert, South Carolina; mother-in-law Doris Tekulve of Batesville and brother-in-law Jerry Ollier of Batesville, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
