Waldron got past Milan 64-62 in overtime in high school basketball heard last night on the Sports Voice. Eli Stewart’s six-foot lean-in off the right glass with two seconds remaining in the extra period won it for the Mohawks. Indians senior Micah Norman set the new school record for career points with a lay-up at the buzzer right before halftime, surpassing the previous mark held by Ryan Hixson. Norman was presented the game ball by Hixson during a brief ceremony at the half (pictured). The 6′ 2” Norman finished with a game-high 32 points while Gabe Riehle added 25. Stewart paced Waldron with 19 points while Ethan Moody contributed 18. The Mohawks improve to 13-7. With the loss, Milan falls to 9-9 on the year…

Elsewhere around the area last night, Franklin County slid past Tri 41-39 at home; Seymour edged Greensburg 48-46; South Decatur rolled over Oldenburg Academy 79-41, and it was Ryle from Northern Kentucky 42, East Central 27.

In college basketball, #1 Michigan turned back 7th-ranked Purdue 91-80 last night in West Lafayette. Trey Kaufman-Renn tossed in a season- and game-high 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Boilermakers, who dip to 21-5 overall and 11-4 in the Big Ten with the loss, which snaps a four-game winning streak. Braden Smith added 20. The Wolverines go to 25-1 and 15-1…And it was Ohio over Ball State 69-57…

Tonight, the Butler Bulldogs visit Georgetown, hoping to snap a six-game losing streak; Evansville hosts UIC’ Indiana State welcomes Northern Iowa; Purdue-Fort Wayne is at Northern Kentucky, and Valparaiso is at home against Bradley.

Anthony Richardson is trying to work his way out of Indianapolis. ESPN is reporting that the Colts expect the former first-round quarterback to request a trade during the offseason. Richardson was unable to meet expectations in his first two NFL seasons before losing a training camp battle to Daniel Jones heading into 2025.
