(Ripley County, IN) – A Madison man lost his life in a head-on crash on U.S. 50 at County Road 600 West near Holton Sunday afternoon.

Indiana State Police say troopers arrived at the scene shortly before 3 p.m. and found an SUV overturned in the roadway and a truck that had flipped off the north side of U.S. 50 (pictured).

The driver of the SUV, 37-year-old Tyler Dukes, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver, 26-year-old Richard Murray of Spring Hill, Florida, was taken to Margaret Mary Health for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

ISP says the initial investigation indicates Dukes was eastbound on 50 when his SUV crossed the centerline and into the path of Murray’s westbound truck, which was pulling a trailer.

The two vehicles collided in the westbound lane.

Troopers say toxicology results on both drivers are pending, and the investigation continues.

State Police received assistance from the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana Conservation Officers, The Otter Creek (Holton) Fire Department, Versailles Fire Rescue, Ripley County EMS, and Ripley County Coroner’s Office.
