(Franklin County, IN) – A Laurel man is dead following a single-vehicle crash that happened Friday morning on U.S. 52 near State Road 229.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says the preliminary investigation by Deputy Dylan Enzinger indicates a 2005 Nissan SUV driven by 34-year-old Justin M. Hokey was eastbound on U.S. 52 when the vehicle left the road after encountering icy conditions.
The SUV went off the south side of the road, rotated, and struck a utility pole before coming to rest on the passenger side.
Hokey was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin County Coroner.
The sheriff’s office says preliminary findings indicate Hokey was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
Assisting agencies included the Metamora Volunteer Fire Department and Letts EMS-Franklin County Paramedics.
