One Arrested Following Two-County Chase

(Shelby/Decatur Counties, IN) – A suspect is in custody following a police chase that started in Shelby County and ended in Decatur County at the entrance to Lake McCoy late Wednesday night.

Shelby and Decatur County law enforcement were involved in the pursuit, which traveled from eastbound I-74, proceeded south on the State Road 3 Bypass, and went down Lincoln St. to Barachel Lane.

The pursuit continued to eastbound State Road 46, where law enforcement blocked the entrance to Lake McCoy.

The unidentified suspect then crashed into a Sheriff’s Office vehicle, which brought the chase to an end.

The suspect vehicle, a Dodge Charger, was riding on its rims. Platinum Wrecker was dispatched to recover the car.

Decatur County EMS was called to the scene but it was not immediately known why.

The suspect was taken to Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

An officer said the suspect was wanted on a warrant, but did not give out specifics.
