(Batesville, IN) – Batesville City Council unanimously approved a property transfer Monday night.
A public hearing was held before the regularly scheduled council meeting to take comments on the transfer from the city to the Batesville Redevelopment Commission (RDC) of two parcels along Lammers Pike near the Industrial Park.
“The transfer is being made to RDC for them to ultimately dispose of, or sell to a developer or third party who will utilize the property for means or purposes that the Redevelopment Commission ultimately prioritizes,” said City Attorney Blaine Timonera.
He says RDC has more flexibility when it comes to selling or disposing of property.
Timonera adds the city relies on going with the highest bidder while RDC can consider different factors such as what will be placed on the property and potential number of employees.
RDC will meet later this month to accept the 18-acre property, and then documents will be executed to start the transfer process.
“Sarah Lamping, our Economic Development Director, will prepare a notice for public offering where interested parties can ultimately respond and provide background on their intentions for the property if they’re ultimately awarded, as well as purchase price and things of that nature,” Timonera said.
The Batesville Redevelopment Commission’s next scheduled meeting is Wednesday, February 25 at 4 p.m.
