
Dave E. Williams, 85, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at his home with his loving family by his side. Dave was born on Wednesday, April 24, 1940, in Valparaiso, Indiana; son of Lee and Norma (Peters) Williams. Dave served in the United States Navy and held a national membership of the American Legion and was a member of the EAA for 30+ years. Dave married the love of his life, Rita (Roy) Williams, on October 31, 1964, and she survives him. Dave worked as a farmer, which he greatly enjoyed. He also built homes, gave flying lessons, and was plant manager. He enjoyed flying, painting, making ceramics, and reading. Most of all Dave dearly loved his family.
Dave will be missed by his wife Rita Williams of Shelbyville; daughter Sandra Bright of Shelbyville; sisters Marie (George) Leach of Indianapolis and Betty (Joe) Presnell of Greenfield; grandchildren David Bright and Travis (Alicia) Pope; great-grandchildren Chandler, Declan, and Barrett Pope; and several nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Norma Williams and daughter Lisa (Williams) Riemen.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Dave from 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. Services will be held at 12:00 PM with Pastor Steve Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Baptist Cemetery with military rites provided by Milan American Legion Post #235. Memorials may be given in honor of Dave to American Cancer Society.
