James Lancaster, 83, of Milan passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at his home with his loving family by his side. James was born on Saturday, July 25, 1942, in Adams County, Ohio; son of Russell and Mary Elizabeth (Fry) Lancaster. James worked on the river for 62 years as a river man for McGinnis Inc. in Southpoint, Ohio. He enjoyed hunting and loved spending time out on the river.
James will be missed by his children Russell Lancaster, Merry (Tony) Connley, James Lancaster, Randolph Lancaster, Edgar Lancaster, and Angela Large; friend Tim Purdue of South Point, Ohio; many grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Mary Elizabeth Lancaster; siblings James Lancaster, William Lancaster, Edgar Lancaster, Charles Lancaster, and David Lancaster; and grandson David Michael Price.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 6, 2026, at Manchester Cemetery: 614 E 8th St, Manchester, OH 45144. Memorials may be given in honor of James to American Cancer Society.
