Former Fire Chiefs Facing Theft Charges

(Jennings County, IN) – Two former fire chiefs in Jennings County have been arrested on multiple felony counts for allegedly embezzling thousands of dollars in Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Department funds.

Fifty-six-year-old Bradley Jacobs of Paris Crossing is accused of stealing over $70,000 while serving as chief from January 2021 to January 2023, and 29-year-old Brent McInteer of Bedford allegedly took more than $40,000 between February 2023 and April 2024.

Indiana State Police say both Jacobs and McInteer accessed the department’s bank account and used the department’s credit card to transfer money to their personal accounts and to make multiple personal purchases.

Both are facing felony charges of Theft (two counts), Official Misconduct, and Corrupt Business Influence.

McInteer was arrested in Lawrence County on January 21, while Jacobs was taken into custody on Friday.

Both are expected to make initial appearances in Jennings County Circuit Court.
