(Southeastern IN) – Local firefighters are reminding residents and business owners that snow and ice can obstruct fire hydrants.
In an emergency, unobstructed access to hydrants is critical and can save valuable time.
The Batesville Fire Department and others around the area are asking for your help in ensuring hydrants near your home or business remain accessible by clearing at least three feet around the hydrant; making sure the hydrant is clearly visible from the roadway; and keeping caps and valves free of snow and ice.
Firefighters say your cooperation plays an important role in helping them protect lives and property throughout the winter season.
