South Ripley defeated Franklin County 58–49 in boys basketball heard last night on the Sports Voice. The Raiders’ Dylan Jessee led all scorers with 18 points while teammate Eli Gilpin added 14. Brady Foster led the Wildcats with 14 points while all 10 of Jerod Rauch’s points came in the fourth quarter. South Ripley improves to 9–4 with the win, while Franklin County slips to 4–7…In the other area boys hoops game last night, Milan knocked off Edinburgh 56-46.

In girls basketball, Class 3A #6 Roncalli went into Greensburg and beat the top-ranked Pirates 66-51; Class 4A #13 East Central tripped Dixie Heights out of Northern Kentucky 54-42; Batesville hammered Switzerland County 57-26; it was North Decatur over Morristown 38-21; Knightstown got past South Decatur 50-49, and Rising Sun bounced Milan 55-24.

Batesville Middle School boys basketball rounded out its regular season with a sweep on the road at Benjamin Rush Middle School on Tuesday night. The 7th grade Bulldogs cruised to a 58-20 win over the Cubs. Miles Lawrence led all scorers with 13 points, and right behind was Otter Johnson with 12. BMS 7th grade ends the regular season with a 13-6 record.  Batesville 8th grade clinched an undefeated 18-0 regular season with a convincing 46-16 victory over Benjamin Rush. Jonah Heil finished with a season-high 17 points while Logan Schneider and Clayton Kaiser joined him in double figures with 10 points apiece. Batesville hosts the first round of the Southeastern Indiana Tournament on Monday night against Jac-Cen-Del beginning at 5:30 p.m.

North Decatur 8th grade trounced Brown County 55-15. Troy Brown led all scorers with 22 points while Charger teammate Jake Whitaker added 10. North Decatur improves to 15-1 on the year.

It was a rough Tuesday night in college basketball across the state. Michigan State topped Indiana 81-60, The Hoosiers have dropped two in a row; Miami of Florida beat Notre Dame 81-69 in South Bend; Valparaiso fell at Belmont 78-74, and Evansville lost to Bradley 94-90 in overtime.

The Indiana Pacers face the Toronto Raptors in NBA action tonight in downtown Indianapolis. The Pacers have three won straight. WRBI airtime is 6:30.

The Cincinnati Reds have invited nine players to spring training as non-roster invitees. They are righthanded pitcher Tejay Antone, catcher Will Banfield, infielder Michael Chavis, righthanded pitcher Hagen Danner, infielder Garrett Hampson, righthanded pitcher Lyon Richardson, righthanded pitcher Carson Spiers, infielder Michael Toglia, and lefthanded pitcher Joel Valdez.
