(Statehouse) – A bill authored by Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) to support the relationship between Indiana FFA and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) unanimously passed out of the Senate Committee on Agriculture on Monday.
Senate Bill 230 would declare it one of the policies of the ISDA to support, staff and aid the Indiana FFA.
Indiana FFA membership includes over 14,000 students across 230 chapters.
FFA provides opportunities for students to demonstrate and develop problem solving and career and leadership skills to prepare them for long-term success.
“The Indiana FFA continues to make positive impacts on the lives of students by providing them with a supportive community that fosters personal growth and career success,” Leising said. “This bill would ensure the partnership between Indiana FFA and the ISDA lasts for years to come. I look forward to working with my fellow legislators on this bill as it moves through the rest of the legislative process.”
The bill moves to the Senate Committee on Appropriations for further consideration.
