(Greensburg, IN) – The community pool project in Decatur County took a giant step this week when County Commissioners approved a $3.9 million a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Contract with Blue Escapes Pools of Greenwood.
Plans for the $4.5 million facility include several slides and a splash pad.
The target date for opening of the 9,000-square-foot pool to the public is May 2026.
It will replace the nearly 60-year-old Allen Memorial Pool, which was closed several years ago because it was showing its age and deteriorating.
Nearly $2.5 million of the estimated price tag for the project had been raised as of earlier this week.
In addition, the Decatur County Community Foundation has taken the plunge into a dollar-for-dollar donation matching challenge to support the new pool.
Donations up to $300,000 will be matched by the community foundation through February 28.
