Jeffrey Knight, 66, Westport

Jeffery Joe Knight, 66, passed away peacefully at 3:01 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at his residence. He was born on January 2, 1959, in Seymour, Indiana, the son of George M. “Joe” Knight and Doris F. (Kirby) Smith. He was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and a 1977 graduate of South Decatur High School. He was a member of the Westport Baptist Church and had been employed at Printpack for 30 years. Jeff loved I.U. Basketball and was a die-hard Bobby Knight fan and loved the Chicago Cubs. You could always find him in his “domain” watching one of his teams or WWE. He was elated when his Cubs won the World Series in 2016. Jeff married Janet L. Smith on July 12, 1980, in Westport and she survives. Other survivors include his mother, Doris Smith; his daughter, Joell (Andrew) Curtis of Brentwood, Tennessee; his son, Jason (Mindy) Knight of Westport; sisters, Karen (Jim) Paris of Westport, Jill Griffith of Nashville, Tennessee, Jacqueline (Tim) Woods of Brandon, Mississippi,  Kimberly (Jerry) Parson of Shippenburg, Pennsylvania; his brother, Karl (Mary) Knight of North Vernon and granddaughters, Josephine and Eleanor Curtis. He was preceded in death by his father; stepfather, Glenn Smith; his brother, Keith Knight and a grandson, Cadyn Knight. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. A time of visitation will be on Saturday, January 3 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
