
Mr. Robert Paul “Bob” “BK” Kitson, age 59, of Indianapolis, Indiana, entered this life on July 6, 1966 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of the late Gilbert August and Elaine (Striepling) Kitson. He was raised in Chicago, Illinois where he attended school. Bob met Melody Faye Coplen in 1998 and they were united in marriage on November 3, 1999 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Bob was a former maintenance manager for several apartment complexes in Indianapolis, Indiana, for several years. He resided in Beavercreek, Ohio for four years, Lexington, Kentucky for three years and for several years in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Concord Community Church in Patriot, Indiana. Bob enjoyed working Sudoku puzzles and playing pool. Bob was a wonderful father and husband and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Bob passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at the Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Bob is survived by his wife, Melody Faye (Coplen) Kitson of Patriot, IN; his daughter, Nicole Kitson of Patriot, IN; his step-son, Derek Andrews and his wife, Miranda of Indianapolis, IN; his granddaughter, Payton Smith of Indianapolis, IN; his sister, Susan Johnson of IL; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steve and Sharon Coplen of Patriot, IN; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mark and Robin Coplen of Patriot, IN, Jackie Coplen of Warsaw, KY, and Kelly Taylor of Patriot, IN; his nieces and nephews, Laura Currie, Brandon Coplen and his wife, Jessica, Courtney Rose and her husband, Payton, Erica Clark and her husband, Patrick, Steven Coplen and his wife, Heather, and Jessi Coplen and her wife, Abbi; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Lenyia Henson, Lamont Henson, Lazarus Henson, Brady Coplen, Addie Coplen, Scarlett Rose, Hunter Merida, and Joey Merida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert August and Elaine (Striepling) Kitson; his sister, Kathy Currie; and his brother-in-law, Barry Coplen.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at a later date.
