Brookville Keeps Same Leadership

(Brookville, IN) – Brookville Town Council opted for continuity during its mid-December meeting, retaining current leadership and reappointing department heads and outside representatives without changes.

Council members selected John Estridge to continue serving as council president, with Rick Whitaker remaining vice president. The council approved the return of all existing department heads through a single vote rather than acting on each position individually.

Continuing in their roles are Gina Gillman as utility office manager, Tim Ripperger as utilities supervisor, Rocky Sparks overseeing streets and parks, Terry Mitchum as police chief, and Jill Mergenthal as director of golf.

The council also renewed several external appointments. Brian Harpring will continue serving on the local alcoholic beverage board, Andy Baudendistel remains council attorney, Becky Beesley will continue representing Brookville on the Franklin County Economic Development Commission, and Estridge will remain a member of the Southeastern Indiana Regional Planning Commission.

Action on appointments to the Historic Preservation Commission and the Brookville Redevelopment Commission was postponed until a future meeting.

The Brookville Town Council is scheduled to meet next on Jan. 5, 2026, at the Brookville Municipal Building. The meeting is set to begin at 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on YouTube.
